There are an insignificant number of kitchens with unused 220V outlets. 220V was wired in in case the owner wanted to install an electric stove, but a gas stove was installed instead. The problem is that it's in an inconvenient location and running a 220V/30A extension cord beside a stove is a really bad idea.
- seanmcdirmid 1y agoI was thinking about going from gas to induction in a remodel to cut down on fumes and make cleaning easier, but we have not a 220V to do it, so an electrician will have to fish wires up to the kitchen if we go that far. We would also install a speed oven at the same time, so that’s another 220V outlet, what would be one more on the counter for a kettle?
- kccqzy 1y agoI've been eyeing a battery-backed induction stove for my next remodel. The point is that it can charge itself on a regular 120V outlet while producing as much as 10kW output, far more than a plug-in stove.
