- saidajigumi 14y agoGiven that TermKit's last commit was nine months ago, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. TermKit was a good, thought-provoking design prototype but I don't think it really nailed the next-gen-terminal sweet spot.
- idonthack 14y agotermkit is a failure because it throws away forty years of unix history. it's not a shell to run in your regular terminal, it's not compatible with the legacy commands, it's not even an extra layer to provide support for new features. it's a complete re-implementation of the entire set, trying to do too many things at once. something like kmscon will be more successful, because it does a single thing: provide hardware accellerated rendering to the console. https://github.com/dvdhrm/kmscon https://github.com/dvdhrm/kmscon
