Reporters killed and foreigners barred in Israel's battle for Gaza narrative
- zahirbmirza 1y agoNarrative Control and the new Furnaces of Orwell. Note to Moderators - This is not a Dupe (in my opinion and I will respect your greater insight) from what I have seen published on this site so far. The subject of this article covers an important starting point for discussion; that of the power of narrative control, selective publication and control of access to information.
- quantified 1y agoWhile the winners write the histories, their job is easier if the other narratives never existed.
- asdefghyk 1y agoThe guardian always publishes articles critical of Israel. Never has articles critical of Hamas. Lots of downvotes but no evidence I'm incorrect .... What does a person make of that ?

- asdefghyk 1y agoNot being paid anything. I've just noticed a regular bias. that should be publicised. I was thinking may get some response ... with guardian articles critical of Hamas ??
- verdverm 1y agowhere are the right-wing outlets that are ever critical of Israel and BiBi for their genocide? Publishers are allowed editorial decisions and are free to share the speech they believe in and want to promote
- iovrthoughtthis 1y agoYou have a lot of comments that start with "OBSERVATION" What are you trying to communicate here?
- asdefghyk 1y agoOk I will remove the word OBSERVATION where I can still edit . But is it a problem ? I actually went thru my last few pages of comments - the word has been used a very low percentage of time - just a few times ... so hardly "lots "
- immibis 1y agoWhat did Hamas do recently? I haven't heard of what they did since Oct 7 2023.

- jpster 1y agoFrom the article: “more than 180 Palestinian journalists were killed in 22 months of war, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.” This seems awfully intentional.
- jokoon 1y agoI remember reading that a majority of those "journalists" worked for hamas or were friendly towards hamas. Aljazeera is hardly neutral on this conflict either.
- King-Aaron 1y agoBearing in mind that you are also not immune to propaganda, and once a reporter or whoever else has been forcibly disassembled it's easy for the aggressor to say what they want about them. The Israelis have been demonstrably dishonest about this conflict so I'd take anything they release about their war crimes with a grain of salt.
- jpster 1y agoShould journalists who are friendly towards Israel be killed for that reason? I personally do not think so, so I’m surprised that you seem to be introducing that as a justification.
- dlubarov 1y agoNot for ideology alone, but for example Abdallah Aljamal (a Palestine Chronicle writer) was holding hostages in his apartment.
- myth_drannon 1y agoYes, one of those hostages was Shlomi Ziv. He tweeted in reply to the news about the elimination of Anus the Hamas propagandist https://x.com/shlomiziv86/status/1954790687502737743 https://x.com/shlomiziv86/status/1954790687502737743

- myth_drannon 1y agoIt's interesting how the BBC and other left media are reacting to the elimination of those Hamas members. When Ukrainians eleminate and assassinate Russian journalists there is little or no reaction, sometime some small celebrations. Mind you that Russian journalists act mostly as propagandists, while the one ones that Israel eliminated are members of Hamas military wing. In case of Gazan journalist Anus that Israel tore him up yesterday, there are videos of him jumping on the head of an Israeli murdered on Oct 7th.
- grimblee 1y agoYou forgot to mention the 70 years of persecution leading up to october 7, anyone living under aparteid, seeing his/her familly suffer, can make bad decisions and ressort to violence. This does not change the fact the origin of said violence is Israel's colonisation and persrcution of the Palestinians.
- CLPadvocate 1y agoAnd you forgot the 1300 years of Arab colonisation of Judea and Samaria, including mass slaughtering of Jews on multiple occasions?
- w0de0 1y ago“Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader, I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure, God promised it to us, but what does it matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We come from Israel, it’s true, but two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been antisemitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: We have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that?”
- CLPadvocate 1y agoMost Arab leaders in the region have no problems with making peace with Israel - it's actually only the terror organisations who refuse - Hamas, PLO, Iran, Huthis ... And there is actually no confusion about the "Palestinians" in the Arab world - as Egypt annexed Gaza, they made it pretty clear that they will not allow an Arab state there and also that they will never accept Gazans as their equals. Same happened in Jordan after annexing the West Bank. No one really wants them in the region, because Palestinians are THE source of instability and they cost the Arab countries actually way too much. And basically the only reason why they support the Palestinian cause is the chance for political emancipation of the united Arab world from the western dominance.
- asdefghyk 1y agoThe reality is no one knows what is propaganda and what is not.
- asdefghyk 1y agoHow many of the Palestine journalists reported on Gazans’ protests against Hamas throughout the war? Anas Al-Sharif conveniently ignored Gazans’ protests against Hamas throughout the war. Courage, apparently, applies only to reporting what Hamas wants the world to hear.
- DiogenesKynikos 1y agoA journalist is murdered (deliberately, by the admission of the perpetrators) by an army that is carrying out a genocidal war against a civilian population, and this is your response? "But why didn't he report on XYZ?"
