Thanks for sharing; I didn't expect to see Erik Satie on HN :-)
It's a lovely little vignette of Satie's work and life. If you haven't already, give a listen to his Gnossiennes and Gymnopédies. Beautiful melodies with a lot of harmonic variation.
- windowshopping 1y agoI think his most underrated and unknown piece is _Danses de travers_. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x6nuiNN3JI&list=RD9x6nuiNN3JI&start_radio=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9x6nuiNN3JI&list=RD9x6nuiNN3...
- mvkel 1y agoWhat a beautiful piece. For me it evokes a river: not knowing where it's going, but sounding exactly right in the moment
- FerretFred 1y agoI was going to ask what (a) Gnossienne is, but "a completely new and made up word, in this case, "gnossienne."
- kashyapc 1y agoExactly! I left out that detail with the hope that the reader will discover it ;-)
- rxtexit 1y agoI would also add Satie's Nocturnes are just as good and just as beautiful.
