The first driverless semis have started running regular longhaul routes
- fred_is_fred 1y agoArticle doesn't say but I wonder if the autonomous portion is interstate only and for the "last N miles" a driver is needed?
- dtagames 1y agoThe driverless portion is Hwy 45 between Houston and Dallas, also known as the road with more accidents than any other in the US. Not a great choice for testing autonomous trucks.
- tocs3 1y agoA little bit of an aside but I watched some people deploy an autonomous underwater vehicle. It was an uncomfortable feeling watching it ($100K+) drive away and then sink under the water. I can only imagine watching your 15000 pound simi drive onto the highway.
