  Well, that's what should happen. If he has done something wrong, the government has to prove it, and then they can apply the appropriate penalty.

    Agreed, but the HN title is misleading. The full headline, “Columbia student Mohsen Mahdawi is free on bail after judge orders his release from federal custody,” is much better.
