Links to an article trying to bullshit its way out of the inescapable fact that any carbon emitted by wood burning comes from the atmosphere and returns to the same atmosphere.
- PaulHoule 2y ago... depending on how the forest in question regrows or fails to regrow. In the short-term carbon in the atmosphere has increased, maybe in 50-100 years it is neutral, in the meantime we are suffering effects of increased temperatures right now. Contrast that to, say, sugarcane, which really does regrow in a season -- but might still be a problem if you clear land to produce it. What complicates it all is that large amounts of carbon are stored in the soil and that is really "dark matter" that we barely understand. That BECCS technology is one of those things where there are hundreds if not thousands of research papers for every working installation.
