It’s quite… historical.
- echelon 2y agohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_dosage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_dosage Historical-sounding, maybe? It's still used in the literature: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-32144-z https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-32144-z https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-48960-4 https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-48960-4 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10757140/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10757140/
- dekhn 2y agoYeah, when I saw the original comment I tried to find the source of the term but wasn't able to find it. To me it sounds like medical genetics terminology (known for terms like "penetrance", "allele", "epistasis", "locus") whereas I'm a molecular biologist/biophysicist, which has far more precise ways of describing the underlying physical model.
- flobosg 2y agoA term can be still used in literature for historical reasons. Both concepts are not mutually exclusive.
