The way I remember it, they got huge industry buy in and tons of sponsorships after price hikes for Maya and 3DS Max.
- MBCook 2y agoI have no idea how much it helped them, but they didn’t start from zero. Since it was a commercial product that was open sourced, it already had users.
- dartos 2y agoRecently, sure, but blender has had a huge, active community for around 20 years. I remember first running into blender in 2009
