Bill Gates on AI: Humans won't be needed 'for most things'

- ferguess_k 2y ago"We don't need most of you for most things" It's going to be interesting to record what AI guys and gals are going to achieve for the next 10 years.
- EA-3167 2y agoI think most of what this sort of AI can achieve has already been achieved, and at enormous sunk cost in data centers, power for data centers, and water for data centers. We keep ignoring that these systems require VAST resources with unfavorable scaling and speculative VC money that we know will not last, but at the same time we imagine a future in which that isn't the case. I'll believe in the hope/doom when it doesn't involve the energy budget of a large nation being used to produce very little.
