Maybe they think it sounds better than it is because it's so common for them to believe they deeply understand a topic when they've really only confidently oversimplified it?
- itsanaccount 2y agoWe had a fellow stop by for some, call it off grid activity. They were from a small metropolitan and looking at our 3/4 acre experimental garden, asked "so if you grow all your own food what things do you still have to buy?" We were nice and tried to explain calorie counts per person for a year and micro nutrient requirements but we still laugh about that one. And that guy was in food service. Most people do not understand the complexity of our food supply, not only overconfident programmers.
