They are already drafting an end to sanctions, which is unbelievable.
- ratg13 2y agoTarriff other countries and then establish a free trade agreement with Russia to boost their economy. One wonders if they will make American packaging for their products, or just sell the Russian labeled products straight on US shelves.
- actionfromafar 2y agoWhat products? Caviar and crude?
- quickthrowman 2y agoWhat are they going to sell us? Russia is a gas station.
- xkcd1963 2y agoDignity?
- quickthrowman 2y agoWe do need some of that, but I’m not sure Russia has any to sell :)
- rayiner 2y agoExcellent! The Russia sanctions are causing collateral damage to much of the third world.
- regularjack 2y agoFeel free to provide any resources that support your take, otherwise I'll consider it to be bullshit
- hollerith 2y agoRussia is an important exporter of fertilizer, fuel and food. In contrast, most of the third world imports these things. Sanctions imposed by the West do not (and cannot without a naval blockade of Russia, which no one in the West is crazy enough to advocate for) prevent the third world from continuing to import these Russian exports, but they introduce significant friction on these transactions.
- libertine 2y agoThey also export stolen Ukrainian grains, let's not forget that detail.
- disgruntledphd2 2y agoI mean, Ukraine and Russia both export a lot of grain, so the war has definitely impacted a bunch of poorer countries.
- rayiner 2y agoMuch of the third world does extensive business with Russia and rely on Russia for access to advances technologies. For example, Russia is helping Bangladesh build its first nuclear power plant: https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/Rooppur-Bangladesh-paying-Russia-in-yuan-to-sidest https://world-nuclear-news.org/Articles/Rooppur-Bangladesh-p...
- gpsx 2y agoTrump said he wanted peace, but I think he really wanted an end for the sanctions, probably to help with his goal of lowering the price of oil. I don’t think he cares at all about how things turn out in Ukraine.
- _DeadFred_ 2y agoTrump met with the Russia in Saudi for 'peace talks'. I doubt lowering oil prices was the concern there.
- codedokode 2y agoTrump have promised to end the war in a short time and is a little late on the deadline. That explains him being irritated at that meeting.
- Henchman21 2y agoIts only unbelievable if your head has been stuck firmly in the sand.
