Sergey Brin says AGI is within reach if Googlers work 60-hour weeks
- pavel_lishin 2y ago> That works out to 12 hours per day, Monday through Friday, which Brin calls the "sweet spot of productivity." Is there a term for when higher-ups find something that works for them (usually due to very specific circumstances of their lives and biology and possibly drug habits), and then insist that it's a universal feature of human beings?
- yaiml 2y ago> That works out to 12 hours per day, Monday through Friday Given that they reverted back to an in-office policy, and given the crazy housing prices, you probably have to factor in ~1h of commute in each direction. So you basically leave at 7 am, work 8 am to 8 pm, come home at 9 pm, and then maybe say good night to your kids if you are lucky and then rinse and repeat until the weekend. Not sure if/how that's sustainable in terms of productivity.

- yaiml 2y agoWasn't AI supposed to make us more productive so we could work less? On a more serious note, instead of overloading people on 40-hour contracts, why not hire and train more workers to share the workload?
- Rotundo 2y agoWhy buy more lemons if you can squeeze the lemons you have just a bit harder...
- mac3n 2y agoSo Google can use AGI to advertise to us after we're laid off?
