ERPs are almost an extortion racket. Look at the force move to SAP/4 from SAP/3. It is costing companies megabucks and R/3 was perfectly fine, it is pretty much a full implementation. So the pain you had installing R/3 is even more fun and painful this time. Companies were told move to R/4 (hanna) by 2030 or you lose support. I wonder if SAP has a kill switch in R/3 to disable it if the company does not move or pay the extra millions to support R/3 after 2030. I doubt Oracle is much different either.
