  If your response to someone's worry about job security is "quit preemptively" of course they won't want to hear it. It's not a great reason to quit.

    It most certainly is. In most cases, it is much easier to find a job while you have a job than it is to find a job when you don't have a job. The action isn't "quit preemptively", the action is finding another job now, instead of making some other investment you would With your time today.

The action is finding an entirely different career which is a lot more obnoxious than finding another job normally is. Sometimes risk is less bad than the alternatives.
