iPhone apps found on App Store with malware that reads your screenshots for data

- nottorp 2y ago> the duo identified a number of App Store apps that would use OCR to scan a user’s photo library in search of recovery phrases for crypto wallets. So it doesn't take screenshots without permission, it scans your photo library. Presumably the OS asks for permission for that. The clickbaity title led me to believe the malware takes screenshots of other running apps and OCRs them. Edit: original title here, in case it gets edited to something more descriptive: "iPhone apps found on App Store with malware that reads your screenshots for data"
- puppycodes 2y agoi'm always deeply annoyed that in articles like this, buried in the last 3 paragraphs they mention "some" of the apps
- moribvndvs 2y agoIt’s insane to me that these get published while Apple fights my team for almost a month about publishing a new version that has a link to a site that has a link to purchasing a subscription while having the gall to call it a matter of end user safety.
