I have a 1st generation iPhone in the US on AT&T and reception and clarity are as good as they eve were on HTC, Blackberry, or Treo. It's possible this is a 3G issue as all of the above ere 2G phones. But given the author's demonstrated propensity for writing things he's only heard about third hand, we might want to brand this entire line of criticism [citation needed].
