Observation: HN turns into infomercials around when Californians start working
- fckgw 2y agoYou're saying tech workers living in the tech capital start posting tech stories on the tech website when they get to their tech jobs?
- dkkergoog 2y ago[dead]
- add-sub-mul-div 2y agoThe LLM shovelware self-promotion spam posts will continue until morale improves.
- TheMongoose 2y agoMorale, or stock prices?
- mystified5016 2y agoShareholder morale
- lysace 2y agoI think humans are managing these campaigns. Specifically the marketing people at the various, now desperate companies. It's not trivial to get onto HN when you're obviously marketing. LLM doesn't cut it.
- add-sub-mul-div 2y agoI mean the projects and companies based on LLM tech, not that LLMs are doing the posting.
- lysace 2y agoOk.
- itishappy 2y agoThat's it's purpose. The interesting discussions are secondary to advertising YCombinator and it's ventures.
- lysace 2y agoSo it's pay for placement for non-YC stuff? I don't think the YC company ads are that intrusive.
- itishappy 2y agoDoubt YC actually charges anybody for use of the board. More likely they're offering a useful service free of charge to collect something even more valuable: attention. YC gets free advertising that passively selects the most relevant users, and users get a free link aggregator with unobtrusive ads relevant to our interests. Everyone wins!
