This is the most *ucked thing Zuckerberg has done. Trump is going to have even less respect for him.
- ksec 2y agoSorry what is the context here? He donated and he is going to have less respect for him?
- sitkack 2y agoI am not looking it up, but there is ample evidence available that Trump, in line with narcissistic autocratic behavior both wants praise, but thinks the flatterer is weak and not worthy. This move by Zuck is too far away from normal lines of power and influence he operates in, it will be seen a desperate and weak. Zuck cucked himself.
- jfengel 2y agoIt may well be effed up, but it's actually par for the course. Ten companies donated a million bucks to Biden's inauguration: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pfizer-unions-others-donated-618-mln-bidens-inaugural-2021-04-21/ https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pfizer-unions-others-donate... The money has to be spent on the event, so it doesn't go to the President's pocket or even to their campaign fund. So it's not limited the way other political donations are. Still... Trump has a history of misusing funds, including over 30 criminal convictions, and more for his staff. If I were the FEC, I'd be keeping an eye it. But apparently everything the President does is legal, so it's probably not the effort.
- floathub 2y agoThis was from the last time around, and Trump no longer holds the lease on the hotel (and it's no longer branded as "Trump"), but it is an example of self-dealing with inaugural funds: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/22/dc-sues-trump-organization-alleging-inflated-inaugural-party-bills-102123 https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/22/dc-sues-trump-organ... Fool me once, ...
