  Good to see this moving forward. I watched Viktor’s talk about it recently and it totally made sense (here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fMFa6OqlY8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fMFa6OqlY8). The Java roadmap over the past few years is really starting to pay off. They’ve managed to close a lot of the gaps with other high-level JVM languages (like Scala, Clojure, and Kotlin) while still keeping backward compatibility. It’s brilliant that you can slip these newer bits into a 10-year-old codebase without any major issues.
