The Two Big Games
- qznc 2y agoThe terms "outcome game" and "consensus game" feel useful for discussing meeting behavior.
- Supermancho 2y ago> People good at consensus games resent that, and want to cut capitalism to prevent it. I'm not sure what "cut capitalism" means in this context. It feels like an out-of-place statement, ascribing some sort of intent beyond the framed meta. Consensus seekers like to maximize their personal benefits, which is capitalism of a different kind. Consensus, even in this situation, doesn't always result in a different decision than what the outcome seekers are after. When there's alignment, everyone wins (in a sort of Nash equilibrium). This is what makes meetings so useful. The momentum is always toward the maxima.
