Swift Vision: Improving the Approachability of Data-Race Safety
- msie 2y agoSwift, what a mess you've become. You need a Benevolent Dictator. Swift Evolution was a mistake and I saw that many years ago. Too many cooks trying to add their pet feature to the language.
- msie 2y agoI will also add that I feel that Swift has now become a language designed by brainiacs for brainiacs. As opposed to Go which tries to stay small and simple.

- troupo 2y agoI feel like this is the result of trying to retrofit concurrency onto a language with a huge baggage (mostly mandated by the company developing it). You either make all the decisions from the start, and build on top of them (see Erlang for an example), or you spend years trying to bolt concurrency (of any form) on top (see OCaml for an example)
- frizlab 2y agoThis is amazing. Swift’s concurrency is complex now, but it was most needed. Im eager to see how it will get simplified.
