Writing like this makes me grateful that technology has essentially always been just another “thing” to me and that growing up it was never presented as a harbinger of liberation. The plethora of gadgets, gizmos and sights and sounds that painted my perception of the 90s and 00s just felt like the way it was, until it wasn’t.
