Arizona girl, 10, sold chickens. Chase froze her check and closed the account
- rurban 2y agoSo it really looks like doing business with US banks is extremely risky. EU banks also put high hurdles dealing with them. Why does not everyone who has something to loose open accounts in non-US banks to limit such risks?
- philipwhiuk 2y agoKYC happens everywhere except countries you probably don't want to put your money anyway.
- bigfatkitten 2y agoIt has less to do with the U.S. banking system, and more a case of Chase in particular being run by fools.
- renewedrebecca 2y agoI've run into problem with Chase and I've heard from other people who have as well. Your account will get closed without explanation, and getting your funds back is a major hassle. A branch manager told me they had a lot of AI-type account reviews going on, the output of which isn't questioned.
- llamaimperative 2y agoBecause for 99.9999999% of people they work pretty much flawlessly (with some irritation and friction around the creases, of course)
- jessekv 2y agoOne flaw per one trillion accounts would be some seriously impressive numbers.
- llamaimperative 2y agoYes it's called hyperbole
- rurban 2y agoIn all my cases I only had weird problems like this with Chase. So glad that I'm back in Europe. Flawless would be European banks, certainly not Chase
- kylehotchkiss 2y agoThis is the type of thing you're signing up for with massive national banks. Overzealous patriot act enforcement, no reconciliation pathways, nonsense fees. I mean look at Wells Fargo's wikipedia controversies section. Their execs wear these as a badge of honor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_Fargo#Lawsuits,_fines,_and_controversies https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wells_Fargo#Lawsuits,_fines,_a... Credit unions are great and accessible to wide swaths of the US population.

- metalman 2y agothis is just a symptom of the scale of coruption in the banking industry, and the overwhelming need to do anything performative to create the idea that they are so vigilant as to be unquestionable. but the simple reality is that there have been trillions of dollars of crime money moved through the banking system over thd last 10 years alone, drugs ,weapons, human traficking , illegal mining and forestry, fishing, and thousands of other mega scams go through without a hickup a very high percentage of all of the "aid" money just never shows up anywhere near where it should, and 100 mill by 100 mill just evaporates, quite litteraly while in the banks sole care
