Well-known, in countries where people are conscious about prices of electronics they buy and where second-hand market is a thing (read: poor countries), people avoid buying non-basic configurations of Apple devices, even having cash. Because their resale values are almost same as those of basic ones. For example in Belarus, it's possible to buy a base mbp and resell it for about 2/3 of the price paid when the next model comes out next year - but that doesn't work at all with a beefed-up configuration. Of course, original new price they pay is much much lower than in official store because no one buys in official stores, they are like museums there. People buy new Apple devices from some people who bring them at night in mysterious vans, paying cash, God knows where they even come from.
