US economy growing despite voter angst

- bell-cot 2y agoIn an economy where the fortunes and worldviews of the 0.01%, the 1%, the 10%, and "everybody else" have so badly diverged - a breakdown of how things are going for each group would be vastly more useful than any "the grand total is..." factoid.
- tartoran 2y agoI highly agree but that picture wouldn't look good for the aforementioned 0.01% or 1% nor for anyone wanting to be elected regardless of what side they're on. I think it may have started going downhill even for the 10% while everyone else is being badly crushed.
- bell-cot 2y agoIt would look very good for some elected folks - say, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders#Economic_issues https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders#Economic_issues - but not so good for the "everybody else" of politics.
- tartoran 2y agoI agree but let's face it, they will never let Bernie Sanders in.
- kmckiern 2y agoWhile GDP is growing, there has been a long-term decline in wages as % of GDP: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=2Xa https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=2Xa The median worker's day-to-day perceived quality of life may be more aligned with this downward trend. I'm not an economist, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
