W Virginia town of Green Bank has become a refuge for 'electrosensitive' people

- kemotep 2y agoKind of makes the whole “electro sensitivity” thing seem foolish then huh?

- itishappy 2y agoNot at all. Radio telescopes are electrosensitive by definition, and that's exactly why they chose this site. No comment on whether people are electrosensitive, but if you felt you were, this is the spot to be.

- mmmlinux 2y agoI have a feeling a lot of these people needed to evaluate what was going on in their life, beyond the cellphone tower they think is shooting 5g death beams at them. A therapist would never be lacking of work in that town.
- Suppafly 2y ago>A therapist would never be lacking of work in that town. If a therapist could fix them, they wouldn't need to move to this town in the first place. These aren't serious people operating in the realm of reality.
- science4sail 2y agoAs long as they think that they're getting fixed, then that's recurring revenue! You can blame any regressions on the EM emissions of the outside world.
- tolerance 2y ago> These aren't serious people operating in the realm of reality. Does anyone have a whitelist for what groups of people we're allowed to say this about?
- K0balt 2y agoWell, you can borrow mine.
- wtallis 2y agoTrying to use a whitelist approach for that problem would be indulging in the kind of lack of critical thinking that allows people to believe they're allergic to WiFi, or to take such people seriously.
- dingnuts 2y agoI get what you're saying but the GP is saying they are literally suffering from psychosis. We should definitely be able to say psychosis sufferers are not operating in the realm of reality; it's tautological
- drewcoo 2y agoI don't think we can say "whitelist" anymore.

- throwup238 2y agohttps://archive.ph/hXwpw https://archive.ph/hXwpw I wonder how many people were inspired to search this place out after watching Better Call Saul. Edit: > And, no, they don’t like the caricature of electrosensitivity depicted on the TV show “Better Caul Saul”: a frantic, paranoid man wrapping himself in a foil blanket and avoiding even sunlight. Heh. So they're sensitive to gigahertz but not terahertz radiation? What about mains and the landlines they use?
- se4u 2y agoA few months ago I read about a lady who can smell Alzheimer's and at first she too was not taken seriously. I can't think of how RF can affect human body but I wouldn't dismiss their reports completely.
