- pyaamb 2y agoendless edge cases
- pyaamb 2y agoI think the real reason why tesla will never give people the option to buy one of their cars without self driving hardware is because the market would reveal its actual demand and value
- dyauspitr 2y agoIsn’t Waymo level 5?
- SketchySeaBeast 2y agoIsn't level 5 under any circumstances? Have we seen how Waymo handles a snowstorm?
- jqpabc123 2y agoHave we seen how Waymo handles a snowstorm? My guess; the same way they handle every unexpected situation --- slam on the brakes. The most common accident with self driving vehicles is rear end collisions --- which always gets classified as the human driver's fault.
- matthewdgreen 2y agoI checked this out [1] just to get a sense, and apparently there have been 200 total collisions involving Waymos, about one every 100,000 miles. 43% were at relative speeds of under 1 MPH. Only 23 were serious enough to cause an injury or deploy airbags, and of those, 16 were rear-end crashes. At least one of the 16 involved a driver who hit the Waymo a second time as he tried to run away, so probably not good faith. Anyway: might be that Waymos hit the brakes a lot, but does not seem like an epidemic of fast "slam on the brakes" rear-end collisions. - imtringued 2y agoA waymo behind the waymo wouldn't have made that mistake.
- dambi0 2y agoWaymos all the way back
- JohnFen 2y agoNo, Waymo is L4.
- andrewmcwatters 2y agoThere are sufficient technologies to create level 4 urban and level 2 interstate driving that cover most miles driven by most people on a daily basis. AGI isn’t required for this. Really good SLAM is.
