However, I am an energy production/consumption maximalist.
- vouaobrasil 2y agoMalicious, are you serious? Bitcoin requires huge amounts of energy to generate. The more people use it, the more valuable it will become, and themore people will want to squeeze more bitcoins out of specialized generators. I think energy maximalists are malicious, because they consume energy at the expense of our planet. Bitcoin is not a good thing for humanity.
- isaquefranklin 2y agoYour comment is malicious because this is not a problem instrisic to Bitcoin mining, it is a problem instrisic to the current energy production grid. By your logic every industry sector that comsumes huge amounts of energy (and there are many) in the planet is evil. Hence your problem is not with Bitcoin, but with energy consumption or with our current power production grid. I'm not a big fan of the current power grid too, I think nuclear is the way to go.

Yes > Hence your problem is not with Bitcoin, but with energy consumption or with our current power production grid. I also have an additional problem with Bitcoin because it locks us in to using high amounts of energy. If it becomes a main currency then it's just one more think to lock us into using huge amounts of energy which in turn make it more likely to develop other harmful technologies. > I'm not a big fan of the current power grid too, I think nuclear is the way to go. No matter how clean energy is, it promotes further use of other resource in an unsustainable way.
- thisconnect 2y agoBitcoin does not require all that energy it actually protects itself by making it more difficult to mine when more energy is thrown at it. See difficulty adjustment. But people will throw more energy at it in the future. There is no reason to put all unused energy into Bitcoin mining.
