Show HN: I built a directory of resources for Bitcoin beginners
I am Isaque Franklin and I build products and solve problems in my free time (between college and work) and also for a living.
I am a Bitcoin maximalist and I truly believe that Bitcoin is the sanest money that exists today, and I also belive that hard money is essential for the development of civilization and for the future of mankind.
However, one cannot uderstand Bitcoin and all it's applications and benefits without falling down the rabbit hole - an experience every bitcoiner has tasted in the beginning of their journey and constantly tastes when learning new things about bitcoin. Unfortunately, the rabbit hole is very tiring. It's hard to find good organized information like tutorials, pdfs, lists and others. You can actually learn everything just by searching the internet for hours straight to try and find really good information, but the time you spend doing so does never come back.
And thinking about the time waste when a beginner falls down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, I created Directory of Satoshi. It basically is just a place where a newcomer can find all the basic information he needs to start in the Bitcoin world.
If you've read until here, I appreciate your time.

- vouaobrasil 2y ago> I truly believe that Bitcoin is the sanest money that exists today Even though it contaminates the atmosphere by using insane amounts of energy to generate?
- isaquefranklin 2y agoYour comment is malicious since one thing does not necessarily follow from the other (non sequitur). However, I am an energy production/consumption maximalist.
- vouaobrasil 2y agoMalicious, are you serious? Bitcoin requires huge amounts of energy to generate. The more people use it, the more valuable it will become, and themore people will want to squeeze more bitcoins out of specialized generators. I think energy maximalists are malicious, because they consume energy at the expense of our planet. Bitcoin is not a good thing for humanity.
- isaquefranklin 2y agoYour comment is malicious because this is not a problem instrisic to Bitcoin mining, it is a problem instrisic to the current energy production grid. By your logic every industry sector that comsumes huge amounts of energy (and there are many) in the planet is evil. Hence your problem is not with Bitcoin, but with energy consumption or with our current power production grid. I'm not a big fan of the current power grid too, I think nuclear is the way to go.
- vouaobrasil 2y ago> By your logic every industry sector that comsumes huge amounts of energy (and there are many) in the planet is evil. Yes > Hence your problem is not with Bitcoin, but with energy consumption or with our current power production grid. I also have an additional problem with Bitcoin because it locks us in to using high amounts of energy. If it becomes a main currency then it's just one more think to lock us into using huge amounts of energy which in turn make it more likely to develop other harmful technologies. > I'm not a big fan of the current power grid too, I think nuclear is the way to go. No matter how clean energy is, it promotes further use of other resource in an unsustainable way.
- thisconnect 2y agoBitcoin does not require all that energy it actually protects itself by making it more difficult to mine when more energy is thrown at it. See difficulty adjustment. But people will throw more energy at it in the future. There is no reason to put all unused energy into Bitcoin mining.
- npoc 2y agoUsing energy doesn't contaminate the atmosphere - generating energy by dirty processes does. Energy usage correlates tightly with level of civilization a population has. Perhaps you mean that it wastes energy? Anything can be seen as a waste energy if you don't understand the benefit of it. Do you see gold mining as a waste of energy? It uses more energy than bitcoin. Go tell the gold miners they've been wasting their efforts for millennia.
