New Zealand "deeply shocked" after Canada drone-spied on its Olympic practices
- RcouF1uZ4gsC 2y agoActually Canada should automatically forfeit that game against New Zealand. That will send the appropriate message.
- ncr100 2y agoYes. Technology is overpowering our social systems of control and justice more and more often. Reacting with force, forcing Canada to lose, is just.

- amanzi 2y agoThis is obviously big news down here in NZ (already being referred to as "spygate"). Canada is the top-ranked team in pool A, and they are currently ranked 8th in the world, whereas NZ is ranked 28th. Seems like really silly, and unnecessary, behaviour from Canada.

- Taniwha 2y agoActually New Zealand even more shocked by American reality TV people snacking on endangered birds: https://x.com/nzpolkermit/status/1815983072182976875 https://x.com/nzpolkermit/status/1815983072182976875
- robocat 2y agoTo be fair, a fair number of people that I know that live where Weka are consider them a pest and some kill them - although they generally only tell people they trust since it is a bit illegal. They are not endangered (Conservation status: Not Threatened). I think Weka are awesome and I won't kill one: however I don't live near any so I don't have any reason to dislike em. https://teara.govt.nz/en/large-forest-birds/page-2 https://teara.govt.nz/en/large-forest-birds/page-2
- Taniwha 2y agoI think it depends on the subspecies, they are certainly endangered on the North Island, and in decline on the South - but happy on the Chatams (and allowed to be hunted, they are reputedly tasty)
