- tuatoru 2y agoIf that were halfway true, dementia would be unknown in Mediterranean countries. Is it?
- shrimp_emoji 2y agoNo because all of these effects are very small and not worth caring about. Make peace with death. It's comin' to getcha!
- nikolay 2y agoMediterranean countries are not what they used to be - they eat a lot of junk nowadays, too.
- nikolay 2y agoAntioxidants are good only in certain situations. In fact, they could be detrimental in many situations. For example, they negate the benefits of exercise and impair our defense against infections. Inflammation is vital—chronic low-grade inflammation is a different story! Autophagy is a bad strategy and reduces lifespan, as human cells (unless they are cancerous) do not divide infinitely. So, the idea is to prevent cells from becoming senescent, i.e., keep mitochondria healthy, and not consume too many PUFAs, which desaturate cardiolipin.
