I was facing the same issue when I learned English (I'm French), and I found that watching TV Shows with the subtitles helped a lot. So you get to hear that wall of sounds, but you get the words spelled out under the picture.

YouTube has a lot of informal conversational content in all sorts of languages, too. Podcasts etc.
