This i contentious, I have actually read scholars that argue the opposite.

It is far from contentious, you are probably mixing up "premodern agriculture" with "pre-agriculture". - kasey_junk 2y agoIt’s contentious that premodern _agriculture_ was high labor? The contentious point I’ve seen is that hunter gatherer societies perhaps were not high labor. Do you have any sources I can look at?
