- chii 14y agoa judge goes thru some very different education and indoctrinations than a politician would have. A judge is more difficult to corrupt, and/or bribe with circumstances, because there is no incentive for the judge to favour one or the other. Thus, this is fair. A politician has plenty of incentive to favour one party over another when creating legislation - after all, who pays for their campaign contributions? He/she/it who pays controls.
- zopa 14y agoAs it happens, most trial court judges in the US are elected. See here: http://www.brennancenter.org/content/section/category/state_judicial_elections http://www.brennancenter.org/content/section/category/state_... Judge Alsup is a federal judge, so he's an appointee, not an elected official. But most judges do need campaign donors. It's a problem.
