Great piece of British history. I wonder if the BBC restrictions helped propel early rock groups to fame because the only place people could really go in the 60s/70s/80s to hear new stuff are clubs.

They certainly did! The late, great DJ John Peel got his start on Radio London, which was inspired by Radio Caroline. Punk, Dub, and a large swath of electronic music exists because of Radio Caroline. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Peel https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Peel FYI, Peel was a programmer back when they used punch cards.

Nowadays they seem to broadcast legally on medium wave (aka AM to Americans), but I doubt I could receive their 1 kW here. Less traditionally on https://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/radioplayer4/index.html https://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/radioplayer4/index.html
