- invalidname 2y agoDo you have that opinion with more antisemitism? Do Jews win more Nobels because of our control over Norwegians?
- defrost 2y agoA three month old account with a Zuck | Musk nom de guerre will always have edgelord opinions with more <X> .. just not a life.
- 082349872349872 2y agoThat may be predictable, but I finally remembered to listen to Talking with the Taxman... and the YT algo decided I must be in the market for a Prada bag, so there still are some surprises in store, here under the sun. EDIT: BTW, I think I finally figured out why the older bloke in the All Blacks shirt calls Ŋarritj "uncle". I had been confused because I thought Ŋarritj had been found as a fledgling, so chronologically he'd be younger. However, if the bloke were Dhuwa, and specifically Gamarraŋ, then his mother would be Yirritja, and specifically Ŋarritjan, so Ŋarritj would be her brother and his uncle. Do I have that right?
- defrost 2y agoMaybe but not neccesarily by a long shot .. "Uncle" the english word used in any number of pidgin variation is a note of respect for an older man who isn't necc. a blood relative. In various tongues there are more precise words for more complicated blood | marriage relations .. so "uncle" is mostly generic, but often will mean an elder from the same group, whether family or not (but likely). Notable country wide uncles include https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_Roach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_Roach https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Charles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Charles
- 082349872349872 2y agoWhen someone says that if Ŋarritj spoke better yolŋu, he'd be a pollie, saying "vote for me vote for me" and "he'd be a number 3", is that a reference to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_system_of_Australia#Ranked_(or_preferential)_voting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electoral_system_of_Australia#... ? (only a 3? is that because, on the campaign trail, he would have been more likely to shred a stubby holder than scull a schooner?)
- mieses 2y agoThese topics should not be spoken by engineers whether they be Norwegian or Jewish. Norwegians and Jews both good. Engineers dangerous. edit to add summary: develop engineers at home. it's not difficult. just do homework. import best scientific minds to win the long game.
- portaouflop 2y agothat would require to give a crap about the long game.

- bestnameever 2y ago> monopoly of Jewish people in finance what is the monopoly of jewish people in finance (source?) and how does this cause israel to rank second behind India?
- ZuckMusk 2y ago[flagged]
- invalidname 2y agoIsrael has 2.6M none Jews (2M Muslims). Yet you chose to focus on Jews as Israelis. That's pretty clear. You also chose the trope of "Jews control finance" which is an age old antisemitic trope. You also ignore the strong correlation between success in business and success in science, math and innovation. Looking at physics and math Jews have very strong showing over the past decades. E.g. try watching Oppenheimer and counting the Jewish names. I'm sure you think you're not racist because you're used to this line of thinking. I suggest applying critical thinking to your stance.

- nitwit005 2y agoYou should expect such a small country outlier given how this sort of thing is distributed. India's unicorns are concentrated in a few cities, which house a relatively small portion of India's population.
- invalidname 2y agoIf that were true Taiwan would be higher in the ranking.
- thorncorona 2y agoI suspect if you adjusted for market cap, Taiwan would be higher ;)
- OJFord 2y agoNot every small country to be an 'outlier'.
- nitwit005 2y agoImagine randomly picking a hundred points on the globe. By coincidence, you pick one location in a small country. Now you look at the density of points by population, and that small country has an unusually high density. Grouping data by country tends to get you these small country outliers for almost any statistic.
- invalidname 2y agoThat data isn't random, it's based on countries, cultures, demographics etc. You see the correlation beyond number of unicorns. You see it in academic awards and achievements too. Claiming that data is just random seems lazy. If Israel is doing things right, it's worth studying why and emulating it elsewhere.
- nitwit005 2y agoI, of course, did not make any claim that the world is somehow random. That was what is known as an analogy.
- niemandhier 2y agoYou cannot compare since the data is confounded. It’s way easier for Israelis to migrate to the us, than it is for Indians.
- invalidname 2y agoThat is true. But again, look down the list. Other countries (also much bigger) with far easier path to the states are even lower on the list.
- wordpad25 2y agocountries with fewer barriers to immigrations have fewer reasons to immigrate in the first place
- hackerlight 2y ago44% of Israel's exports is ICT, it's not surprising to see them create more than expected tech unicorns.
