Why did Tim Berners-Lee bother to create HTTP?
- mvkel 3y agoIt's an interesting journey. HTTP 1.0 was released and among its listed "features" was that it was stateless and it didn't need persistent connection. Very soon after, the HTTP 1.1 patch hit which added persistent connection support, and caching. It's almost like HTTP 1.0 was created with the assumption that FTP was overkill, but then 1.1 added a bunch of FTP's features?
