What IRS Directfile looks like
- WirelessGigabit 2y ago1 day too late! Also ridiculous that there is an income limit of $79,000 (AGI). There is no reason for that arbitrary line to be there except for lobbying by companies like Intuit.
- joezydeco 2y agoFilers above that AGI tend to have more complicated returns. That's all. I don't see a problem with them taking it slow. This system looks really similar to the FAFSA enrollment site, which had trouble in late 2023. Probably explains why this site didn't launch earlier.
- WirelessGigabit 2y agoI meant the post was 1 day too late. But there are many people around me who make > $300,000 married with simple returns. Married filing jointly, 1 state, renting. No reason to be excluded.
- 1oooqooq 2y agolol. irs can calculate your taxes in all cases since the 60s. they only offer a crap toy that covers only 1/1000000 of cases. intuit lobbying is still winning. cannot even touch that if happen to have a retirement account generating any 1099, or if you got tips. these restrictions covers everyone with a 9 to 5 job and everyone with a temp job. what's left?
- 1oooqooq 2y agooh also it requires a id.me account. go ahead and try to get one. they have a literal root kit trying to run on your browser. if you're firewall blocks anything like webrts and such you get denied
