Creating an impossible barrier by vague demands of evidence for when someone knows they don't want to be their assigned/apparent gender. I don't see how you can argue with someone after they've passed the hurdle of it not being a phase throw extensive counseling and parental interviews, but that they truly would be more comfortable living as another biological variant. It's unlikely to be strictly healthier long term because of the vast differences in X and Y chromosomes, epigenetic interactions, and drastic shifts in hormones, but that's better than someone killing themselves or suffering without the quality of life they could have if they weren't denied.
- IlIlIllI 2y agoIt is not a "vague demand" for evidence. Please see the Methodology section of the final report of the Cass Review for the detail of what is considered evidence-based medicine, both generally and within the context of the review: https://cass.independent-review.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/CassReview_Final.pdf https://cass.independent-review.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/0... > but that's better than someone killing themselves or suffering without the quality of life they could have if they weren't denied. Again, there isn't sufficient evidence to support this ideological viewpoint.
- throwiforgtnlzy 2y ago> Again, there isn't sufficient evidence to support this ideological viewpoint. People dying and suffering is evidence enough. Disingenuous analysis paralysis to impose an authoritarian worldview on others. Nice try, but you're not fooling anyone. Good luck to you.
- IlIlIllI 2y agoPlease do consider reading the report I linked. It really does go into considerable detail on the evidence-based rationale for its recommendations. You may find insightful this quote from the report: "Although some think the clinical approach should be based on a social justice model, the NHS works in an evidence-based way." "Whilst navigating a way through the surrounding ‘culture war’, the Review has been acutely and increasingly aware of the need for evidence to support its thinking and ultimately the final recommendations made in this report."
