My Apple Watch 9 is acting weird – Is this a bug?
- yzydserd 3y agoMy Ultra 2 did this a few days ago, startling me. I didn’t see any speculation in that thread as to why it happened. Any HN theories?
- mattl 3y agoAre you running 10.4?
- joezydeco 3y agoCapacitive touchscreens are tricky. You want them to be sensitive enough to work quickly when touched, and sometimes through gloves or when wet. But if they're too sensitive, or don't recalibrate well to dynamic conditions, you start to get false touches. Another root cause is usually a noisy ground from a power supply, but I would hazard a guess that's not a problem for a standalone watch.
- philwelch 3y ago> …called 911. I had to explain to the operator that my watch was going crazy and had called spontaneously. She seemed unfazed by this, so i'm assuming this is a common occurrence Remaining unfazed is part of the job of a 911 dispatcher. If you stop and think for a minute or two about the kinds of calls a 911 dispatcher receives and deals with on a regular basis, you wouldn’t expect one to get fazed by something as petty as a malfunctioning smartwatch even if it was their first time.

- thekevan 3y agoThe first thing I though of was the "touch disease" on the iPhone 6.
