Lena is a mainstay of computer imaging calibration. It's silly and stupid to make any claims of harm to anyone from use of the image. Don't let the culture overlords tell you what is right and wrong. Use your common sense.
- PlunderBunny 3y agoMy common sense says that if a woman doesn’t want a photograph of herself used in a particular way, then continuing to use it is clearly wrong.
- xdennis 3y agoNothing works that way. Any politician could dodge criticism by saying "I don't myself depicted in that particular way".
- PlunderBunny 3y agoOk, I think it’s fair to say it’s not an absolute rule. But there’s a big difference between publishing a picture of a politician against their wishes and a model’s glamour shot. There’s often a legitimate public interest in documenting the activities of politicians, sometimes even their private lives.
- GaryNumanVevo 3y agoDon't contort this narrative into a "culture overlords" conspiracy. The original model, Lena Forsén, has asked that the image be retired.
- ralfd 3y agoAnd before that Forsén was a long time fine with it, but this didn’t stop the push to ban the image.
- GaryNumanVevo 3y agoExactly, and now she's saying that she's no longer fine with it.
- ralfd 3y agoShe is still very proud about the photo. So if she changes her mind again, your principled opinion is to unban and use the image again?
- GaryNumanVevo 3y agoYes, I had no problem using the image until she said she didn't want it used.
