Twitter is so bizarre in parts. I saw some guy complain about the spam within replies... only for the comment itself to become spam [0]. And don't get me started on the various Metamask/tech support/Onlyfans bot rings that are on the platform. Or the fact that a cat account got bought by a crypto coin [1].
This tweet from English football Twitter summarises the core issue the best [2].

- rsynnott 3y agoI think [1] is possibly the least weird; this would occasionally happen on old-Twitter, too.
- orwin 3y agoSport Twitter is much more invaded by bots than tech Twitter tbf
- pityJuke 3y agoI'd vaguely extend that to "entertainment" Twitter. Possibly even, "popular and an audience that is more suspectible to scams/promotion".
- rightbyte 3y agoInteresting. Bots are probably scraping for popular posts and reposting them? I've saw this alot on Reddit before boycotting them.
