- neverrroot 3y agoNot sure such a test suite was desirable
- IronWolve 3y agostupid, they have the talent to build such wonderful and creative products, but since AI is based around freedom of speech that they feel the need to cripple it such a bizarre way... Google apologized today, seeing numerous posts on HN now.

- IronWolve 3y agoGemini was race swapping white with black, so 1940 german soldiers generated pics had black/asian/female soldiers. They patched it quickly after that. https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/21/24079371/google-ai-gemini-generative-inaccurate-historical https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/21/24079371/google-ai-gemini...
- pb7 3y agoIt outright refused to generate images of a white family but has no problem doing so with any other race. The historical part of it is the least problematic.
- pb7 3y agoThis was no accident either. This was deliberate, programmed discrimination.
- gowld 3y agoThe fake-image generator generated images of fake people? Quelle horreur!
- gowld 3y agoHow many times did that person run the prompt before selecting a result to share? First try: https://g.co/gemini/share/e7731082e485 https://g.co/gemini/share/e7731082e485 It also generates "caucasian British woman" upon request, but the link-generator broke, so I can't share the result.
- speff 3y agoThat's generally why I distrust any of the anti-woke comments about these generators. It's incredibly easy just to fake evidence with these tools and people just lap up the results. Yea, it's a problem when actual historical depictions are portrayed incorrectly - which they said they'd fix - but screeching about getting POC when typing "British woman"? Welcome to the other side, I guess. When the default for "[adjective] person" was always someone white for so long, I guess seeing other results makes people mad.
