Am I doing the right choice?
I am going to do research on Incremental Learning on September 2024 at Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi'an, China.
As of right now, I am working as Angular Developer, Senior Associate.
I was tasked to refactor 2 feature, checkout and experience.
The checkout refactoring went fine until I started to invite 2 person to work together. In short, 1 person invite basically everyone else, there is no code review and I suddenly lose control how the checkout refactoring should be done. At that point, I started to create the Google Doc.
I want this to not happen next time and the experience refactoring is about to start next week.
I deliberately created new repository with a `poc` folder, `experience` application and write 30 pages of Google Doc about the new change, which is:
1. Trunk based development.
2. Feature Flag policy.
3. Pull Request policy.
4. Semantic versioning policy.
5. Why we should use Angular 17.
6. Why we should create new repository.
7. Session Cookie proof of concept.
8. dependabot proof of concept.
9. Clean Architecture.
10. Vertical development.
I set up a technical meeting, include my SPV, and the CEO to push the experience refactor forward.
I work overtime almost everyday.
Anyway, they paid my salary 6 days late and have not paid the 10% social security fund. And no overtime pay.
I got approached by other companies:
1. freelance, work from home, for Indonesian who currently live in Australia.
2. full time, work from office in Jakarta.
3. full time, work from office in Jakarta.
4. full time, work from office in Jakarta.
5. full time, work from office in Osaka.
and the pay is much higher than my current job.
I also work part time to create a website for the ministry of health.
I am thinking to resign, to start over and to start study Incremental Learning before September 2024.
I really want to say to myself "one more day". But, I am afraid everything will fall apart if I do not resign and focus on 1 thing.
I should have taken it slowly.
I am overwhelmed.
- keikobadthebad 3y agoSome good advice I received about 25 years ago, "always look after your long-term interests". There are a lot of topics mixed together, basically today's problems (which sound like they can be solved by having a single maintainer who can commit topic branches prepared by others when they pass review) and what to change to. It's good to change jobs in this business. Coming from China, value of the choices seems highest for Osaka, but you don't mention the kind of work or employer so who knows. You can also expect some hopefully minor difficulties if you're Chinese and espectially if you don't have any Japanese. But if it looks the best in your resume, it may be worth the effort.

I believe any decision taken should not burn bridges. > Coming from China, value of the choices seems highest for Osaka, but you don't mention the kind of work or employer so who knows. Hi, unfortunately I am not from China. Anyway, perhaps it may be worth the effort.
