This has been my experience. It's only decent at generating boilerplate or the most basic commonplace stuff. It's increasingly useless as you get into things that require any kind of deep high-level understanding of either the problem or the machine. For anything that touches on security it's horrifying... there's going to be a rash of really stupid vulnerabilities resulting from AI generated code in security-critical sections of applications. It's really just a more sophisticated autocomplete. Good autocomplete can speed you up, but it isn't going to replace you.
