I love the comment on the video pointing out that the sound started as a beep and has gotten drawn out over the years. Some old machinery in a closet somewhere slowly failing. Wonder if it's some worn out capacitors in the noise generator or an old tape reel (latter doesn't seem reliable enough IMO).
