Making apps for sex positive parties, a top Twitch streamer and much more
- chrcit 3y agoI started 2023 by getting my dream job, then was fired after 3 weeks, got involved in politics, made apps for sex positive parties, was invited to consult on a new price transparency law, and much more.
- raffraffraff 3y ago> I had been working 50–60 hours per week up to that point and wanted to take the weekend off to recharge. > I told my CTO that developing and launching a big, new feature every week wouldn’t be sustainable for me long-term. He told me that that is startup life and that we could talk more about it on Friday with the CEO. On Friday I got fired for not being a good fit. Sounds like hell, and the CEO is an asshole. Anyone who falls for that bullshit is crazy. But whatever. Young gullible optimistic folks are free to burn themselves out and waste a few years of their limited lifespan making some sociopath his billion dollars while getting paid a wage and some magic beans that might turn out to be worth damn-all.
- chrcit 3y agoYeah, my compensation (sub 100k) was also way too low to even think about accepting something like this. When comparing actual hours worked I make more in my current "normal" job.
- urbandw311er 3y agoWere you not cynical afterwards that you’d just been brought in to make the acquisition look more attractive (perhaps by making the company seem more threatening to the acquirer by demonstrating ability to do rapid build)?
- chrcit 3y agoI always thought the timing was kinda weird. Especially cause they didn't wait to replace me before firing me. The acquisition seemed a bit too early (6 months after launch) to be entirely voluntary. I assumed that the funding had dried up or the offer was just too insanely good.
