If you actually read the very long ad, you’ll realize they’re promoting all the unrelated stuff, mainly their consulting packages. The only thing not mentioned is VLC for Unity, you wouldn’t even know it’s in the Store without clicking though. Nobody gets roasted for saying “by the way, you can get this banned product from <place> now”, this is some next level shit that makes people question your integrity and your one-sided story.
Edit: Apparently some people can’t understand what I mean by “the very long ad”. It’s everything starting from “Introducing the Videolabs Store”, not the whole article.

- oefrha 3y agoI stand corrected, I didn’t read until the very last sentence of the ad, which finally got to VLC for Unity after all the unrelated stuff. To future writers: don’t bury the main thing after half an article’s worth of unrelated promo materials.

- oefrha 3y agoPeople lose patience after reading nine paragraphs of unrelated promo materials. It happens, sorry.
- rat9988 3y agoAnd this is why he (and I) thinks you didn't read. It's mentioned on the first paragraphs too.
- oefrha 3y agoWhat? I’m talking about the ad which begins at “Introducing the Videolabs Store”. The first paragraphs are on topic, about being banned.
- lupusreal 3y agoWhat you call "the ad" follows naturally from several paragraphs explaining the circumstances motivating the creation of their own store; unity banning them. Whining about this is totally bizarre.
- stavros 3y agoIt was sarcasm, the article is basically "we got removed from the Unity store, so we made our own store, where were selling consulting! Consulting consulting consulting, for you and your company, so many consulting packages for all your consulting needs! Also VLC is there."
- cybrox 3y agoThey outlined the issue and even included correspondence from Unity. The first half is a story, the second half is an advert related to that story. Frankly, I have much more of an issue with all the paywalled stories being posted here than a small company plugging its own products after a relevant post.

- smaudet 3y agoTo be completely fair, their plug-in is still freely available. After being kicked off by unfair and unreasonable (uncompetitive?) practices, it's not unreasonable to say "hey they suck so we are doing our own thing over here". If someone robs you it's not unethical to set up shop elsewhere. Asking for money for support is entirely reasonable as well.
