Plagiarism review of all current MIT faculty
- unsupp0rted 3y ago> “If every faculty member is held to the current plagiarism standards of their own institutions, and universities enforce their own rules, they would likely have to terminate the substantial majority of their faculty members.” Citation needed

- MattGaiser 3y agoI see it as far more likely that this just becomes like what happened with blackface or harassing women. The first few were driven out of office such as Al Franken and Mike Ertel. But then Donald Trump and Ralph Northam just refused to leave and as ever more instances of it were uncovered among many politicians (most critically the replacements for Northam), the issue died due to the high cost required of having it remain a disqualifying behaviour. Neither Oxman nor any member of MIT will be substantially impacted by the end of all this.
- mvdwoord 3y agoI think you are right, but it would be nice to have some more data and possibly insights. Perhaps fewer direct consequences, but a possibility for changing course for the better? Even a little bit?
